Gastronomy and wine tourism in Tavel, near the Pont du Gard

The Auberge de Tavel restaurant is located in the former school classroom. Its atypical and rustic character with its village stone walls, exposed beams and majestic fireplace gives it a unique charm. In this warm setting, by the fire in winter or in the shade of its charming terrace in summer, you will enjoy home-made cuisine. Corinne and her team put their know-how at the service of authentic and traditional cuisine which magnifies the flavors of the irresistible Provençal terroir. Beautiful seasonal products that sail between land and sea. Meat and fish follow one another on the plates followed by a lovely farandole of gourmet desserts. Our local producers are very important to the house, you will find some of their products according to the menus and arrivals such as Les Pélardons du mas de Carles de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, the Camargue bull or even the products of the Sites Remarkable Taste... And the figs on the breakfast buffet, from the fig tree in the garden!

The delicious, colorful menu changes regularly with the seasons and is accompanied by a very fine selection of wines from the famous Tavel vineyard, of course, but also excellent red and white wines.

Our Menus

What better place than the Auberge de Tavel to discover the Tavel vineyards and its wines?

Tavel, whose vineyard is rich in history, is also the only vintage to be proposed only in rosé. Whether it comes from different terroirs such as “les Lauzes”, “les Galets roulades” or “les Sables”, each producer obtains a very different Tavel depending on the blends they are going to create.

You will be able to find among others on our menu, wines from the Mordorée domain which no longer needs to be presented or from the Lafond domain, with a very balanced, organic wine, whose owner was once a student at the school in our establishment. Other Tavels will be more atypical, such as Château Trinquevedel with its Autre Tavel, or even Eric Pfifferling's Domaine de l'Anglore, a natural wine harvested manually and bottled without sulfur. We also propose various wines from the Maby domain, an emblematic family of the village of Tavel winemakers from father to son. We also have wines from the Tavel winegrowers' cellar, the only cooperative cellar classified as a historic monument which offers excellent quality local wines.

Thierry carefully selects the wines, often from small producers, in order to taste excellent rosé, white or red wines to accompany all meals. He will be able to help you discover them with passion and guide you according to your menu and your desires.
